iPod Nano Disaster!

So I acquired an iPod, set it up with my model new hp quad core killer laptop, all was positive and dandy, then my pc beginning messing up so I needed to restore it to its unique settings. After I downloaded from apple iTunes again and connected my iPod to the pc I could not get my songs off the iPod. They were nowhere to be found. I even went to my computer->iPod drive->and once I opened it up it didn’t show any of my music. Bizarre factor is all of the songs are still on there once I flip it on and listen to it. I can not get any new songs on there and it is really upsetting. I messed around for two hours final night time wanting up on-line methods to do it and I do not know if my iPod is messed up or what however when it is connected to the computer it exhibits NOTHING inside. I’m so annoyed!!!!!! Will my 30GB iPod be sitting there practically empty endlessly? I only have 1200 songs as a result of I have never found out the right way to add extra since my pc messed up months ago. It is a nightmare.
